So, because I’m a little ahead in the alphabet blog challenge, I figure I’m taking today to just blog the way I LOVE to blog… about whatever strikes me as worth sharing. 🙂 And today? Today, that’s how much I love Sundays.
Sundays are our family day. It’s often just the three of us, but sometimes we head out with one of my siblings, and this particular Sunday we met up with my Sister-in-law and her daughter – our only niece. We hit a big children’s consignment sale (where, because it was the last day, a lot of stuff was on for 50% off). We totally scored, getting five paperback chapter books for a total of $1.50! And a few cool new outfits for the kid, as well as a pair of adorable orange PJs. They also had baked goods for sale, so we bought cake pops for all five of us. 😀 Super yummy treat! Red velvet dipped in white chocolate. MMMmmmmm….
Next we hit DQ to pick up some Strawberry Lemonade Chillers – one of my favourite drinks. Frozen lemonade with great big strawberry hunks mixed in? Sooo tasty!
Then it was off to the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo (but we hit the zoo, then the park). LOL Last month we were there almost every weekend, this month we didn’t make it there quite so often… the lion cubs grow at such a fast rate, it’s been crazy watching them these last months. I remember when they first brought their parents to the zoo – their daddy was too young to have a mane, and oh what a glorious one he has now. 😉 We got to watch them grow too (but not from quite so young).
The girl was thrilled that the chickens and roosters are now out and about on the grounds. Of all the wild and amazing animals she can connect with up close and personal at the zoo, one of her favourites to interact with is always the poultry. Though I can’t say I blame her. I love them too. If the city would allow it, we’d have a few hens ourselves – but alas, we aren’t as progressive here in Saskatoon as they are places like Toronto.
I took a short video of the girl checking out the “bock bocks”, along with her cousin (who was far less interested):
After the zoo we hit the playground for a half hour or so. We then said bu bye to Tabs and Eliana before running to the co-op for some bbq worthy fare… which Damon grilled up while the girl tore around the yard.
We were thrilled to find Damon had uploaded a copy of the royal wedding to our hard drive, so the girl and I watched it twice in a row before bed. Oh! You didn’t know there was a royal wedding recently? Well jeepers, where have you been dahling? It was the wedding of the century – Princess Cadence and Shining Armor! And yes, it was on My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic. It was a two parter that aired partly on my birthday. We don’t watch TV on TV, we wait until we can stream it, download it, borrow it, or buy it… so I’m thrilled we didn’t have to wait too terribly long for this one. LOL The girl and I love a pony-fix. 😉
As the second viewing came to an end, it was time for PJs and chapters. And now my baby is fast asleep beside me. The perfect way to end a lovely family day. I really am a lucky mommy. 🙂
And now, as we stand on the precipice of the most interesting leg of the A to Z April Blog Challenge, I have one thing to say: HELP!
LOL So yeah… I could definitely use some title suggestions for U V W X Y Z. I’ve got a couple ideas, but they’re looking… well… more creative than I’d like. If you’ve got something that might work, please let me know. From here on out I can use all the suggestions I can get. 😉
Night everyone! Hope your Sundays were as lovely as mine was.
So, mostly today I’m just exhausted.
What better time to have family by to play Just Dance on the Wii.
As tired as I may be, I’ll always find joy in getting together with people we love. 🙂
Before jumping into all the scraptastic fun… What do you think?
Do you like the new look? Any thoughts as to what YOU’d like to see in the title image? I realize this blog was created to allow my participating in Project 365, but it will continue into the new year. Sharing my thoughts, rants, photos, and stories has become a regular part of my life, and it’s not something I’m going to give up just because the year has come to an end. So I really could use some thoughts on what you’d like to see.
Okay… Scraptastic Saturday. 🙂
I’ve been scrapping like crazy the last couple of weeks. And this week I got to work with a bunch of new designers… which is always a treat. I’ve found several new favourites and I highly encourage you check them all out at Polka Dot Plum. Lots of gorgeous kits, templates, and other goodies to be found. And this weekend there are a ton of 50% off sales there too. So it’s the perfect time to stock up.
There is still time left to jump over to Enchanted Studio Scraps to take part in my definition challenge for November. The word art I’ve created centers around the word SPECIAL, and it’s perfect for scrapbooking all those wonderful holiday memories from last year. The download link can be found at ESS in the challenge thread (just look for November’s Definition Challenge). Hope you’ll play along.
Since Kat (of Kat’s Creations) dissolved her creative team, I’d been on the lookout for a new spot…. and I’ve found it. When Crystal (of Sugar Pie Scraps) opened her new store at PDP I met a bunch of new scraptastic ladies who are as quirky and as fun as I like to think I am. LOL It was a natural fit, and I was thrilled when they accepted me as a member of their creative team. So now, not only am I a Sugar Pie Chef, but I’m a Sugar Plum too.
I’ve been scrapping layouts featuring my siblings with Lily-Ann. And I’m proud to say I’ll start to work on the last one on Monday. They’ve got super smoothly, and I’m really happy with how they’ve all turned out. I guess the key is to figure out which one to share here today. LOL Hmmm….
Okay, you know what? I’m not going to share any of them. LMAO
Here’s Lily-Ann with her cousin Eliana:
The kit is by Brine Designs and is called Tayla, General Girl. It’s available over at PDP… so hop on over there and check out their Black Friday sales (going on all weekend).
Take care everyone, it’s cold out there.
Be good to each other.
Lily-Ann got to meet Finn today. 🙂 And it’s the first time I’ve seen him since he’s been home. He’s doing great, and has got so much personality already (little stinker grins super big whenever he toots). The wee girlie was just thrilled with him. And…well…so is everyone else. 😉
I couldn’t decide on one picture to share, so here are a couple.
I headed to the hospital tonight to bring my cousin a Coke slurpee. She was in labour, and I knew she really wanted one. Took our great big, washable, insulated cup to the Sev, and the headed to R.U.H.
Well… While I was signing in as an after hours guest, guess who arrived? “Little” Craik (no name yet). So I showed up at the room only minutes after he was born. LOL I totally crashed the birth, but I don’t regret it one bit! I do feel bad that Jamie didn’t get to enjoy her slurpee during her labour, but I am oh so glad that I got to be one of the first people to welcome “Little” to the world.
He is strong, healthy, and beautiful… and will never lack for love. 😀
For family and friends of “Little”, I’ve got an entire album posted at facebook already. 😀
Congratulations Mommy and Daddy! Welcome to the most amazing adventure you’ll ever be lucky enough to be a part of.
Today I went fabric shopping. I love fabric shopping. All those colours and textures. I just walk through the store and touch everything. It fills me. I really do love it.
Fabric stores are all about possibilities and potential. Beautiful things to touch to see… beautiful things that are just waiting to become. Unfinished things just waiting for the right person to come along. A good fabric store just makes me feel happy (but a badly set-up one fills me with anxiety). I love my fabric store.
Today I bought some really cool denim (you’ll see it in the photo below). It’s for a ring sling I’ll be making for my cousin Jamie. She’s due in a few weeks. Some slings are hard to shop for because people want such specific things, which aren’t always easy to find – and in some cases just aren’t available locally… and I don’t buy a fabric I can’t first touch. Jamie was fun to shop for though. She wanted a casual fabric, preferably patterned, preferably with blue, green, or brown in it. And initially she said no orange, but then took that back, and said orange would be okay too. I couldn’t believe my luck… to find denim with a fun floral pattern in BLUE, GREEN, AND BROWN. 😀
Jamie, hope you love it! 😀
I also bought some new tulle. Tutus and ring slings are probably my two favourite things to sew – and I now have fabric for both. LOL Jamie gets her sling and the wee girlie gets a new tutu. Joy!
On another note… only had one entry for my Scraptastic Saturday challenge. So she wins the gift certificate for Sugar Pie Scraps store at ESS. Congrats!
There is still snow outside.
I would just sit in a corner and pout… BUT… I can’t…. cause I’m doing the happy dance. 😀
My cousin Jamie and her long time fella, Chris, are having a BABY! Yep, yep, yep! Due date Oct 14 (or was it the 13). I’m so beyond thrilled for them. I was very honestly just thinking the other day how wonderful it will be when they decide it’s the right time. Jamie is going to be a great mommy. She absolutely adores children, and is such a good natured, gentle person, and coming from our family she’s also loud, fun, and great for a laugh… the perfect mommy combination. 🙂 So, despite my pouting over the weather, I’m thrilled beyond measure for Jamie. And excited that I get to make a sling for another new baby. I love sewing ring slings, especially for someone I love. 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS Uncle Rob!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS Auntie Kak!!!!
(and not to leave anyone out, congratulations to you too Zane… you’ll be a great uncle)
