Picture Perfect Playdate

The girl had a playdate today with her bestie Parker.  They played with Zhu Zhu Pets, had monster pancakes for lunch, played with the Light Bright, made things with the Fazoodles, played with My Little Ponies, got dressed up as royals, played Skylanders, and had just started to play Littlest Pet Shop when his Mom came by to pick him up.  It was a great afternoon.

Oh!  And I can’t forget…  they made some plans for their future too.  You see, they plan to get married, and they have now decided that they should have 100 swimming pools and 100 horses.  Important things for any couple to have.  😉

The Lady Almalthea

The wee girlie and I watched The Last Unicorn this morning.  It’s a mutual favourite.  🙂  Then, this afternoon, when we were getting ready to head out to see Pop Pop and Grams (my parents), she said she wanted to wear sparkles to look like the Lady Almalthea.  When I asked her if she’d like a star on her forehead just like Almalthea, Lily-Ann couldn’t have been more excited.  So she sat very still while I penciled, painted, then sparkled it in – four layers to be exact, to ensure it didn’t smudge or get icky on her.  And then she proudly showed it off to everyone we encountered.  LOL  But first she posed (with her Pride flag) so I could take a picture of her pretty unicorn star… and she did her very best to look Almalthea-ish.

Peaceful Blessed Samhain!

I’m posting earlier in the day than usual, but there is much to do today, and I likely won’t have another chance to sit at the computer later.  I’m also cheating a little…  The picture I’m sharing is one from yesterday AND is one my mom took.  But I didn’t think anyone would mind.  😉

Be safe and blessed while you celebrate Samhain tonight.

For those who celebrate Halloween, have a ton of fun.

For those who don’t celebrate the season, just enjoy your evening.

We celebrate Samhain, and have a little Halloween fun too.

Samhain (pronounced Sow-en) is the Celtic new year.  The celebration of the beginning of the dark half of the year.  It’s a festival of the bounty received from the years harvest, and a time of remembrance.  So say a prayer for those you have lost, and celebrate their lives, their love was a gift and this is the festival of thanks.  It’s not about ghouls and ghosts and vampires or the creepy things that make up the frivolity of Halloween…  but we enjoy that part of it too.  So get all dolled up, go out trick or treating, let out a witchy cackle, and then settle in, hold your family close, warm yourselves with a glass of hot cider, and remember the blessings of the past year.

Much love everyone!

On our way…

Just playing around on our walk home from the wee girlie’s school.  As you can see, she went to school dressed up like a fairy (tinkerbell to be precise).  She loves picking out her own clothes, and if the worst that ever happens is she occasionally goes to school dressed as a fairy, a princess, or a pirate, well…  in my mind, that’s just fine.  😉

On our way...

As parents it is important for us to guide our children, but we have to be careful that in our guiding that we don’t take over.  Having choices to make for themselves helps build their sense of self, and can help to build their confidence and slowly prepare them for the larger decisions that will come their way in the future.  We need to allow our little ones to have fun, and to look a little silly (from a grown-ups prospective), and to support the choice they’ve made in doing so.

Lily-Ann felt great about herself in her costume, and had a real sense of pride over having made her clothing choice herself.  I love watching her check the temperature each morning and then going through her closet to decide what would be best.  Occasionally she needs a little nudge from me towards something more weather appropriate, but generally she does really great.  😀

Royalty

It’s always a great thing when your wee girlie is best friends with your friend’s wee girlie.  🙂  Such is the case with Lily-Ann and Ainsley….  seen here as the royal duo.
