FB thinks I need a home enema kit!

facebook ad for a home enema kit

This lovely little ad has appeared twice in my FB sidebar now, and honestly?  I’m completely flabbergasted!  I have no idea what it is on my profile or in my preferences that has the Facebook ad execs convinced that this is something I’d be interested in.

Usually I see things about photography, Pride, cute animals, dog training, travel…  so this home enema kit kinda came at me from out of left field.  Because clearly, if FB figures I need a two quart bucket home enema kit, then it must be true.  Yeesh.

And the winner is…

Well, before I announce which of my wonderful Facebook fans is the winner of the free “It’s all you” shoot…  I’m going to share a little about my day.  🙂  Which was lovely btw.

I did a photo shoot in the early afternoon with Reche and her family.  They were absolutely delightful – such sweet little girls.  Her youngest is out to conquer the world, and will do it too I bet!

Then I picked up the husband from work, picked up the kid from school, hit the co-op for some picnic supplies (gotta have strawberry salad and watermelon), packed up a yummy fresh supper into our picnic bag…  and off we went to one of my favourite little hidden spots down by the river.  Most of the sandbars are overrun with people, but I know a couple slightly more out of the way spots, and we were all alone.

We did see our first tick of the year, nasty little things make me cringe and even thinking about it has me all itchy…  LOL  But it was all good.  The girl played in the sand, she and her Daddy threw and skipped rocks.  And we all very much enjoyed our first picnic of the year.  Silly me, I didn’t think to bring my telephoto lens along – but I’ll remember next time.  😉

After supper we stopped on over to my Auntie Risa’s new place.  It was nice visiting with her and my cousins.  And we even were treated to a little fried chicken and tea.

So yep.  A very nice day.

Okay…  so ya’ll are wanting to know who gets the free photo shoot, right?  Who gets to be spoiled and be the star?  Well, our lucky number is 141 (so instead of counting up from 1, I counted backwards from 158). picked facebook fan number 141

So Facebook fan number 141 is…..

Shania Duquette!

You’ve won a free “It’s All You” session.  Drop me a line at photographer at tobi-dawne dot com, send me a FB message, or fill out the booking form at and we’ll get our shoot on!  Congratulations.  😀

If you aren’t a fan of TD Photography, Saskatoon’s Photosmith on FB yet I’d get on it!  This won’t be the last time we do a give-away.  Something tells me there are more freebies coming!

Latent tendencies revealed through facebook crossword?

So…  this image is currently making the rounds on Facebook.  I actually think it’s a pretty clever little thing.  Whether it actually means anything or not, who knows.  But it is interesting – and is getting folk talking (which, in my books, is always a good thing).

I’ve increased the size by quite a bit as it was horribly tiny previously.  Hopefully this will help some people play along.  So?  What three words did you first find?  Mine were READS, SEE, and WISDOM.  If nothing else, I think it says something about what I value.

READS – I read to my daughter from chapter books every night, and I believe that we (as a society) are who we are because of our stories.  Without our stories, our journeys, our shared narratives, there isn’t much of value left.

SEE – I believe in looking beyond the surface to find the truth in everything.  We must do more than look if we are truly to see.

WISDOM – From the first two things – our stories, our vision – comes wisdom and knowledge.  And I learn constantly how much I don’t know.

The Sims Social

Okay, I’ll admit it.  In fact, I’m not afraid of, or in denial of my geekdom.  So I’ll openly, and without hesitation, admit to the fact that I’m now happily logging time playing the new Facebook game, The Sims Social.

Once upon a time I wasn’t a geek.  I wasn’t a dork.  I wasn’t a nerd.  I wasn’t any of those things.  I was actually pretty popular.  I cared about my hair and make-up.  I insisted on having the latest looks, and bought into EVERY fad (even those that now make me roll my eyes at having to admit to them – things like pants that had no button or snap but instead had a freakin’ padlock, or those ridiculous hypercolour shirts that revealed bodyheat by changing colour).  But in my not-so-youthfulness I’ve taken quite well to the I’m-totally-cool-in-my-geekitude role.  Thus, I come to you today with my new found time waster.

Way back when, The Sims were new…  and I realize this may date me, but heck, I freely and openly share my age, so why would I shy away from doing so this time.  So, anyway…  The Sims were new.  It was Y2K, and the computers hadn’t destroyed our world as so many predicted would happen.  The year 2000 was a month in, and The Sims were brand spankin’ new.  The Sims changed the face of gaming.  Previously reserved for folks very different from myself, The Sims really were my first foray into a whole world of geek-delights.  I wasn’t yet a geek myself, but it was my first taste of a whole new world.

It is with a sense of nostalgia that I first clicked on the advertisement for The Sims on FB a little more than 24 hours ago.  And it is with that same nostalgia that I find myself continuing to play.  I’d actually forgotten how fun it was.  It’s not as complex as the original Sim world, not as customizable…  but it’s kinda fun to be able to play with your real world friends. Who knows how long it will hold my attention, but for now – while I’m sick with a cold and not able to do much without fighting exhaustion – it’s a bit of mild amusement.

Sometimes I just need to share, and quite honestly I don’t see anything wrong in that. I think it might just mean that I’m human.  😛

A Little Behind, Camp fYrefly, and Gay Latte

First off, an apology.  I’m a little behind.  Still lots of photos to edit, and just haven’t had the time to put in that I was hoping I would this week.  So to my TD Photography clients who are waiting on their disks – I am sorry.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get them all finished early next week.

Second, a Hoowah!  Camp fYrefly Saskatchewan is now on Facebook.  Okay, yes…  we had a group there before, but lets be honest, groups aren’t really worth a whole lot.  LOL  So now we have a PAGE on FB.  Hope you’ll all come by and “like” us.

Third, a request.  It appears that the planning for Gay Latte (which is being held during PRIDE week here in Saskatoon) has fallen to me.  As I mentioned above, I’m already a little behind in my workload so I’m really hoping for some help with this.  If you are a local writer – professional or amateur – and would be interested in doing a reading, please let me know.  I’d like to ensure that everyone who would like a chance to read, has the opportunity.

Now?  I’m off to watch a little Fringe on DVD before falling blissfully to sleep.  😉

Playing with her piggie…

Here’s the wee girlie on her Pop Pop’s computer…  playing on Mommy’s facebook account.  She’s got a virtual pet on there named Sagee-gee (yes she named him herself).  He’s a little piggie who changes colour most every day, changes outfits regularly, and loves decorating his four rooms.  He loves battling his friends, but is too competitive to race (he doesn’t like to lose, or is it that the wee girlie gets mad when she loses a race…  hmmmm….).  If you and I are “friends” on FB, and you’d like to play with the wee girlie, let me know and I’ll send you a game invite.  😉

Photography Website Burnout

The title about says it all.  LOL

I LOVE photography.  The process of capturing life.  Small perfect moments that we might have otherwise missed.  Gifts.  Vital and full.  Real, transparent, true.  Honest.  Beautiful.  It makes my soul sing.  I truly, truly love capturing life.

What I don’t love, is building a photography website.  I don’t like that I need to market myself and my skills.  I don’t like discussions of price points, and packages.  I don’t like the BUSINESS of photography.  LOL  But apparently it’s one of those necessary things that you just deal with so that you can have as much of the JOY part as possible.

So today I’m a little burned out.  Not on photography.  But on the website I’m building to share the business end of photography.

One thing I did do today that I am kinda excited about (and that IS part of the business end of things) was to come up with a really cool photography package.  I’ve called it the “Make it Right” package.  And it’s all about giving people what they hoped for to begin with, when they ended up with generic, boring, cookie-cutter family portraits from an in-studio photography sitting.  Check it out at  And make sure to give me a “like” while you’re there.  I’ve already given away one portrait sitting, and plan on making many more draws in the days to come.  All you have to do is “like” my page to enter…  and there are prizes for local AND long-distance folks.  So I do hope you’ll drop by and give me a “like”.  🙂

Night all.  Gonna go watch my baby sleep for a while.

me... face burned and pixelated from staring at my computer.

Oh hey!  I still haven’t told you about all the awesome stuff coming up this summer with the Green Party of Saskatchewan.  We’ve got some great things in the works that I hope you’ll all be a part of.  It’s going to be a great year, and this summer is going to get it kicked off right.  But I guess you’ll have to wait a little longer to find out all the details.  😉  hehehe…

Night all.  😀

At the co-op.

Here we are, getting groceries.  🙂  We live such an exciting life.  LMAO

Getting groceries at the co-op.

Now here is a question for everyone…

I took a video on my blackberry to go along with this photo.  But silly me, I took it vertically not horizontally.  Anyone know a real quick and simple way of switching the orientation so it’s not sideways?  LMAO  I’d love to share it with you all, but currently it orients on it’s side.

Now for a couple links worth sharing…

I’ve started digital scrapbooking.  It’s easier on the environment, is more economical, and can be done in a limited space with limited amounts of time.  This month I was invited to be a guest member of a designer’s “Creative Team”.  So for my contribution to her Space Base kit, I’ve built a couple of quick pages.  You download them, and then pop your own photographs into the spaces provided.  🙂  Hope you like.

I’ll let you know when she posts the second quickpage.  🙂  It’s equally cute.

The second link is to my new facebook page.  I’ve started a page for my photography business.  As many of you have already seen, I too shoot snap shots just like anyone else.  But as you’ve also seen, I can also shoot beautifully.  I love photography.  I truly do.  I am working on a new website to showcase some of my work, but figured a FB page would serve as a good spot for people to check me out in the mean time.

I will be offering prizes when we hit 25, 50 and 100 “likes”.  So click that little thumbs up button to get your name entered into the draw.  And hey!  I’d be thrilled if you shared the link with your FB friends.  The more “likes” the more prizes will be awarded…  which only increases your chances.

So that’s it for today.  Going to go downstairs and cuddle with my man for a little while… maybe even watch a flick before turning in for the night.  Take care all.  🙂
