Home Sweet Home!

I tried to be a good blogger while in Disney World…  I honestly did.  But clearly I failed.  LOL  We were all so exhausted by the time we’d be back at the resort at the end of the day that we’d just crash.  And even today (we arrived home at about 9:30 last night) any time I sat down or reclined I’d start falling asleep.

Most people, when they hear the word “vacation”, think of a relaxing time away.  Lounging on a beach or by a pool, letting life float by, soaking it all in…  This was definitely not that kind of vacation.  This was a set the alarm for 6:00 so you can be at the park de jour for 8:00 or 9:00, go go go all day long, get back to the room between 10:00 and 12:00 at night, get ready for bed so you can go to sleep and do it again the next day kinda vacation.  And as sore and exhausted as we all are, it was SOOOO worth it!

I promise that over the next while I’ll make sure to share lots of details, as well as a few “love it” or “lump it” tips on attractions too.  And half way through we devised our own way of hitting the parks in a way that helped keep things easier, more organized, and thus easier on our bodies and brains.  I’ll share our system as well.  Now though?  Now I’m ready for bed!  I have a feeling we’re in for a week of early bedtimes around here as our bodies begin to recoup after our Disney holiday.  😀

It’s Just Home!

As much as I love hitting the road for an out of town dog show, I really do love coming home after one even more.

Traveling is awesome!  Very seriously, I adore pretty much any form of travel.  Road, rail, air…  it’s all good.  I absolutely love going places – and going places with my dog is even better.  And the crazy familiarity of the dog show scene is always grand.  The same faces, the same busyness, the same routine – all repeated in a different place every few weeks is such fun.  I really do enjoy it.

And when you are away, the stresses of home all kinda melt away.  Sure, there are new stresses and things to replace them.  Even away from home I’m crazy busy with a ton to do – and yeah, sometimes I need to be up at 5:00 or 5:30 to be in the ring for 8:30 or 9:00 (which is definitely NOT part of the usual routine)…  but it’s great.

The very best part though?  Is how much being away makes you appreciate being at home.  There really is NOTHING like coming home.  Even before being a mom, I was always happy to be home with Damon and the rest of the kidlets…  but now that I get to come home to my little girl too, it’s even better.

I’m laying in bed right now, with her legs mushed up beside me as I type – almost knocking the computer off my belly.  Just listening to the sounds of the keyboard, the air filter, and her breathing.  This, to me, is home.  There is nothing better.  The dogs are all asleep around us.  Damon is upstairs, probably playing a computer game, with the Parrot chatting at him.  The cat is roaming the stairwell – looking for anything suspicious – and the turtle is sitting in her favourite spot, half in the water, half out.  Everything as it should be.  Everyone well.  Everyone doing what they always do.  It’s just home.

Home Sweet Home!

After a long few days, I’m back home.  Safe and sound.  In fact, I’m currently laying in bed next to my sleeping girl – who’s fingers are resting on my ear.

I love dog shows, but I also love coming home afterward.

To all my photography clients and Camp fYrefly supporters and volunteers:  I will be spending the next few days working through all my email and phone messages.  Please be patient with me.  I will get back to each and every one of you as soon as I’m able.

For now, I’m logging off.  Lots of news from the Battleford show to share… but honestly?  I’m just too darn tired to share it.  😉  Hope you’ll forgive me.  I’ll do my best to give you a run down on the weekend’s event tomorrow – after a little rest.
