My first commercially available scrapbook kit!

Well, we seem to have another day where by the time I sit down to blog, I’m just too darn brain-beat to do much.  LOL  So I hope you’ll forgive me if I just share a little news.  🙂

I spent most of yesterday and today finishing up and packaging my first scrapbooking kit to be released at Polka Dot Plum.  Yep.  I’m on my way to becoming a designer.  I don’t have a launch date to share just yet, but it won’t be long.  And I’ll be launching with two, possibly three digital scrapbook kits.  So it’s a little nerdy, I can’t help it.  I’m excited about it.

I started in the design apprentice program at the Plum back in the Spring.  It took longer than initially planned to get through it as I ended up having to go on hiatus when business got a little crazy.  So this has been something I’ve been looking forward to for almost a year, which is why I hope you’ll forgive the dorky excitement.

Want a peek?  Here’s what one of the kits looks like (and the preview doesn’t include all of the scrapbook elements):

The Sims Social

Okay, I’ll admit it.  In fact, I’m not afraid of, or in denial of my geekdom.  So I’ll openly, and without hesitation, admit to the fact that I’m now happily logging time playing the new Facebook game, The Sims Social.

Once upon a time I wasn’t a geek.  I wasn’t a dork.  I wasn’t a nerd.  I wasn’t any of those things.  I was actually pretty popular.  I cared about my hair and make-up.  I insisted on having the latest looks, and bought into EVERY fad (even those that now make me roll my eyes at having to admit to them – things like pants that had no button or snap but instead had a freakin’ padlock, or those ridiculous hypercolour shirts that revealed bodyheat by changing colour).  But in my not-so-youthfulness I’ve taken quite well to the I’m-totally-cool-in-my-geekitude role.  Thus, I come to you today with my new found time waster.

Way back when, The Sims were new…  and I realize this may date me, but heck, I freely and openly share my age, so why would I shy away from doing so this time.  So, anyway…  The Sims were new.  It was Y2K, and the computers hadn’t destroyed our world as so many predicted would happen.  The year 2000 was a month in, and The Sims were brand spankin’ new.  The Sims changed the face of gaming.  Previously reserved for folks very different from myself, The Sims really were my first foray into a whole world of geek-delights.  I wasn’t yet a geek myself, but it was my first taste of a whole new world.

It is with a sense of nostalgia that I first clicked on the advertisement for The Sims on FB a little more than 24 hours ago.  And it is with that same nostalgia that I find myself continuing to play.  I’d actually forgotten how fun it was.  It’s not as complex as the original Sim world, not as customizable…  but it’s kinda fun to be able to play with your real world friends. Who knows how long it will hold my attention, but for now – while I’m sick with a cold and not able to do much without fighting exhaustion – it’s a bit of mild amusement.

My iPad 2 is Here!

I am as giddy as a schoolkid!  My iPad 2 arrived today.  I’d ordered it from the online Apple store a few weeks ago so am super excited that it finally got here.  And yes, it’s engraved (with OUR song, my name, and my email address).

Why am I so excited?  Well, besides being a gadget nut (I really do love a new tech toy), this is going to make my life sooo much easier.  I’ll be able to use it for a lot of things, but the reason I bought it was this:

PAPERLESS PHOTOGRAPHY!

That’s right!  I’m taking my photography business paperless.  All my forms will now be electronic only.

Over the next few days I hope to find the time to redesign all my photography releases so that they will now be strictly e-documents.  Book me for a shoot, and you’ll be able to fill out your information, and sign your name directly on the iPad.  How cool is that???

I also have plans to streamline the booking process as well – but that’s going to take a little more time, a little more investimagating, and a little more work.

I’m excited.  This is going to totally change the way I handle all my documents and forms.  Sooo looking forward to this.

LMAO  Why yes, I’m a nerd.  Thanks for asking.  LOL
