I am not ready to give her up!

It may be ridiculous, but all I can be right now is sad.

Summer hasn’t even started yet, and already it’s too short.  Two months?  That’s barely enough time to picnic, forget finishing our unpacking, fixing up the house, gardening, heading to the lake, and all the other things we want to do.  We’re going to blink and it will be time for school again.

Autumn used to be my favourite time of year.  I loved the weather, the leaves, the fact that most folk stopped coming to the lake – leaving it just for us…  I loved everything about it.  Now I’m dreading it.

Autumn this year means my baby is leaving me.  And the kicker?  I’m the one who convinced her to give grade one a try, she wanted to stay home and have me teach her.  But Ms. Jackson, the grade one teacher at Mayfair?  She’s fabulous.  Is so obviously passionate about her kids, and I just know Lily-Ann could learn so much from having her be a daily part of her life.  I’m just so not ready to give her up.  Not even close to ready.

Moving from Pre-k to Kindergarten was hard enough.  I still miss our Friday afternoons.  But the idea that come Fall I will only have my girl for a few hours every day???  It’s just too much.  I honestly cried myself to sleep last night.  It’s ridiculous, I know.  I can’t help it though.  I am not ready to give her up.

We haven’t even started Summer holidays and already I’m depressed and upset over Summer coming to an end.  How the heck am I going to make it through?  There isn’t enough time in the world to prepare me for giving up my daughter full time to the school system.  Can’t she go part time?  Honestly?  Truly?  Is that an option?  Because THAT would make it all better.

And the winner is…

Well, before I announce which of my wonderful Facebook fans is the winner of the free “It’s all you” shoot…  I’m going to share a little about my day.  🙂  Which was lovely btw.

I did a photo shoot in the early afternoon with Reche and her family.  They were absolutely delightful – such sweet little girls.  Her youngest is out to conquer the world, and will do it too I bet!

Then I picked up the husband from work, picked up the kid from school, hit the co-op for some picnic supplies (gotta have strawberry salad and watermelon), packed up a yummy fresh supper into our picnic bag…  and off we went to one of my favourite little hidden spots down by the river.  Most of the sandbars are overrun with people, but I know a couple slightly more out of the way spots, and we were all alone.

We did see our first tick of the year, nasty little things make me cringe and even thinking about it has me all itchy…  LOL  But it was all good.  The girl played in the sand, she and her Daddy threw and skipped rocks.  And we all very much enjoyed our first picnic of the year.  Silly me, I didn’t think to bring my telephoto lens along – but I’ll remember next time.  😉

After supper we stopped on over to my Auntie Risa’s new place.  It was nice visiting with her and my cousins.  And we even were treated to a little fried chicken and tea.

So yep.  A very nice day.

Okay…  so ya’ll are wanting to know who gets the free photo shoot, right?  Who gets to be spoiled and be the star?  Well, our lucky number is 141 (so instead of counting up from 1, I counted backwards from 158).

random.org picked facebook fan number 141

So Facebook fan number 141 is…..

Shania Duquette!

You’ve won a free “It’s All You” session.  Drop me a line at photographer at tobi-dawne dot com, send me a FB message, or fill out the booking form at http://photography.tobi-dawne.com/ and we’ll get our shoot on!  Congratulations.  😀

If you aren’t a fan of TD Photography, Saskatoon’s Photosmith on FB yet I’d get on it!  This won’t be the last time we do a give-away.  Something tells me there are more freebies coming!

The BFFs and Us.

When we picked the girlie up from Pre-K today, we snagged her BFF too.  And thanks to an awesome gift from a friend (thanks again Ann-Denise) the four of us headed to the Fun Factory.  The girls had an absolute blast, and before we knew it, it was time to take Carissa home.  But the fun couldn’t end there.

It was too late by then to start cooking anything for Supper.  So we had sandwiches at the park.  Our first picnic of the year.  Granted, by then it was pretty cool and windy (lovely day up until that point).  So we ate quickly, then took our first Merry-Go-Round ride for 2011.  There will be many more on days when the sun is shining and the birds are singing – but despite the wind and the chill in the air, it was a nice way to end a busy (but super fun) day.
