Well, the puppies will be fifteen weeks old tomorrow… so I figured it was about time for a puppy picture update. 🙂 Damon and I took the Chihuahuas out into the yard while the girlie was at my parents. He kept them from mobbing me (which, if I try to take photos of them without him there, happens 100% of the time and makes photographs impossible), and I snapped a few shots of them ripping around.
So… without further ado, here is Marnie (our Champion long coat), Rooty Toot (mommy to the puppies), and Alice & Deedee (the pups):
Can you believe it??? The puppies are already eight weeks old. Kinda blows my mind a little. I have to admit, I’m already looking forward to their show careers. I love seeing their different traits (both personality and physical), and imagining how they’ll end up. Both are promising.
Here are a few photos from some of our stacking practice and post-stacking play session:
Deedee isn’t a fan of the table. She’ll stand on it, but doesn’t want to be stacked. Same on the floor… she has no trouble walking into a stack, but doesn’t want you to mess with her beyond just delivering a treat. She’s definitely got the most confidence and attitude – and even when she isn’t happy about something her tail just keeps going.
Alice does really well allowing you to hand stack her. She’ll stay wherever you put her (even if you totally overextend her, just to see if she’ll hold it). LOL She will stand on the table without issue, she doesn’t like it, but she behaves really nicely. She gets her confidence from her sister on the floor though. The difference in her self stacks when she’s alone and when Deedee is with her, is crazy-huge.
Both girls are super cute (though I may be a little biased). And while they are quite different they are both nice. I really am looking forward to watching them growing up. It’s been such a privilege so far. 🙂
As I’d mentioned a while ago now, we had hopes of heading out for a puppy (and people) playdate with my friend Yolanda. Unfortunately we got rained out and had to postpone. Fortunately, the weather was perfect today. 🙂 And, as promised, I tried to be less of a hovering mother hen, and more of a stand-back-and-take-photos kinda gal. So without further ado, our family playdate:
Thank you so much for having us all over Yolanda. It really was a fabulous afternoon, and a much needed break from all the overtime hours I’ve been putting in lately. 🙂 Very much looking forward to doing it again soon.
Well, today marks the puppies fifth-week-irthday. Yep. They are five weeks old today. And while it’s never something you hear about well bred Chihuahuas, I’ll say it anyway… They are getting SOOO big. LMAO
Okay, so yes. “Big” is relative. But they are sooo much bigger now. And they are running around. Using the pee pads. Giving kisses. Climbing things. Wrestling. Squeeking (they are trying to bark, but it comes out more like little squeeks). They are way too adorable.
Today we took both Deedee and Alice for their first play date. Granted, they were being held more than they were being played with, but that’s good for them too. 🙂 You won’t find a guy who adores tiny puppies more than my dad – and every Chihuahua who has ever been through our doors has made it’s way into his arms at some point. Well… every Chihuahua except Nico (but he was a special case). LOL
Here are two quick snapshots I nabbed (I was too busy being a mother hen to snap more than a couple):
Tomorrow = another day.
Another day = another playdate.
This time at my friend Yolanda’s place… where I will TRY to hover less, and try to photograph more. LMAO But I can’t promise anything.
Okay, the only thing cuter than three and a half week old puppies, are three and a half week old puppies mucking about in the yard. So… how could I NOT take pictures? Seriously. I was compelled to capture their little romp. It simply had to be done.
The older of the girls, Alice is white with black spots and tan markings. Though she is older, she is the smaller of the two. She is currently weighing in at .434 kg (15.3 oz).
Alice is the more laid back of the two girls. Content to sit and be loved upon by the many who adore her. She’s happy to go exploring, but likes the reassurance that comes from knowing mommy is near by. She’s a lot like her Daddy, Ned.
When they were brand new, Deedee, our black tri-coloured puppy, always seemed so big compared to her sister. That difference is minimal now. Currently weighing .454 kg (16.0 oz), she actually looks smaller than Alice… apparently black actually is slimming.
Deedee is very much like her momma, Roo. Always busy. Always going. Always getting into something. Sure, she loves her cuddles – but they have to be on her terms or she’ll wiggle her little butt right out of there.
