Journal your Journey

Starting this month I’ll be hosting a challenge at the Plum…  Okay, yes, I know.  I host challenges there every month as part of my duties as a member of their Creative Team.  But this challenge is something new and different.  For the next year, I’ll be hosting a monthly challenge that is all about journaling your journey.

I’ve wanted to scrap about myself for quite some time, but honestly?  I just never do it.  I really would like to create something that is about who I am, and what’s important to me…  something I can eventually give Lily-Ann.  Sure, she’ll have all my writing (yes, there’s a lot of it) but I want something that is uniquely personal.  And I know, in spite of the fact that this is something I really want to do, I know I’m likely to just keep putting it off.

Hosting this challenge is going to be the perfect way to ensure I actually take up the challenge myself.  So each month I’ll come up with a topic, and maybe a word art, template, photo mat, or some other goody to go along with it…  and we’ll all create something special.  Come the end of the year, each of us will have twelve layouts all about who we are and whats important to us.  It should be pretty cool.

So hop on over to the Plum and join me in the challenge forum here: http://www.polkadotplum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=219  Should be an interesting ride!

Scraptastic Saturday – I’m BACK!

Sorry everyone.  I’ve been an absentee blogger lately.  I have been taking a daily photograph, but life simply got in the way of my posting them.  I’ve been absolutely run off my feet the last while, but I am hoping everything is going to settle back down into our regular routine now.  Of course, those could end up becoming famous last words – though I hope not.  LOL

So, it’s Scraptastic Saturday.  That being the case, I’ve got a couple things to share.  🙂

As you likely read earlier in the week, “Little” was born!  YAY!  Well, “Little” now has a name:  Finn.  And it suits him perfectly.  So here’s a layout I did a little earlier in the week, when Finn was only a couple days old, featuring photos from when he was only minutes old.

Welcome Finn!

For this layout I used a kit by Sugar Pie Scraps called “My Boy”.  It is available at the Digital Scrap Cafe, here’s a direct link to the kit:  http://digitalscrapcafe.com/cafe/product.php?productid=18459&cat=0&page=1

In other scraptastic news, I am now running the Definition Challenge over at Enchanted Studio Scraps.  The whole month of October, everything has been done to reflect a spooky Halloween theme – which I just love.  🙂  This is SOOO my favourite time of year.  With that in mind, I decided to use the word “creepy” for this months challenge.  Hope you’ll decide to play along.

Well, that’s it for today.  Welcome to October everyone.  Hope it’s a spooktacular month for you.  😀  Full of the richness of the season, the warmth of the heart, and the fun of both Thanksgiving and Halloween.  Be good to one another!

Scraptastic Saturday – Yay Literacy

Welcome to the very first Scraptastic Saturday.  So, yeah…  making Saturdays all about scrapbooking kinda takes away from the idea of this as a Project 365 blog.  LOL  But I need a change of pace.  So I figure a once a week break from the norm might not be a bad thing.  🙂

Sugar Pie Scraps has provided gift certificates for the winners of our very first Scraptastic Challenge.  So a big thank you to Crystal for her generosity.  It’s very much appreciated.  Winners will receive gift certificates for her shop at ESS @ http://www.enchantedstudioscraps.com/xcart/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=90.  And please feel welcome to stop by and visit her blog @ http://sugarpiescrapping.blogspot.com/.

If you’re a designer and are interested in sponsoring a future challenge let me know, we’d be happy to have you.  🙂

With International Literacy Day having occurred this week (September 8th), with my being an avid supporter of the written word as both a reader AND writer, and with Sugar Pie Scraps having launched her new library themed scrapbook kit yesterday (September  10th)…  I figure it’s the perfect time for a themed challenge.  That said, your challenge is a literary themed “WordArt” challenge.

Create a layout (digital or paper) using one of the WordArt graphics I have made available at the links below.  Or, if you would prefer not to use the word art,  include either quote in your layout as part of your journaling.  But preference will be given to layouts featuring the actual WordArt.

Quote One:

“A truly great library contains something in it to offend everyone.”

Quote Two:

“A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.”

You have until midnight cst on Saturday (one week from today) to submit your layouts.  Feel free to upload anywhere:  FB, ESS, photobucket, DST, brownie scraps.  Include a link to this post in your layout description, and credit the WordArt as “a Scraptastic design by Tobi-Dawne”.  Then post a link to your layout in the comments section below.   Winners will be chosen and posted here no later than the Tuesday following (but I will do my best to post them sooner).

Good luck, and happy scrappin’!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
