Today I launched my new website for my Chihuahuas. More than anything, it’s a place for me to brag on my dogs; their accomplishments and titles. Eventually I’ll also have a page there in regards to my handling too, but for now? For now it’s all about our Chihuahuas.
So take a peek, and let me know what you think. I’d love to know who’s your favourite Sidhe Dog. 😉
Not too long ago I’d posted, asking for your help. I was in the process of reorganizing my online photography portfolio (and adding -immensely- to it). Well, I’d like to say that it’s all finished… it’s not. But it is as close as it’ll get just now.
A portfolio is never truly finished. As long as I’m still shooting, there will always be more to add. And I also have another 20 or 25 shoots to go through from last year which will likely add another 40-50 images. But for now? For now it’s done. LOL A week of heavy work has my brain numbed for the time being.
In the process of reworking my portfolio I also changed a number of other things at my website. I did away with the “favourites” section – which was interesting to me, but not so useful for my clients. Instead there is now a page featuring quotes from clients who were kind enough to share.
So… I hope you’ll stop by, and check out the changes. Hopefully you’ll find things to be more user-friendly. And I hope it helps you get to know me, and my work, a little better.
…and, if you don’t mind sharing, I’d love to know what you think of the changes.
I’ve begun the long process of updating my online portfolio. Today I’ve already put in six hours – and I’m not quite half way through pulling images from the last years worth of shoots. I shouldn’t have let it get so far behind, but what can I say? I love shooting, I love editing… but pulling photos for my portfolio? Not my idea of enjoyable. So I let it slide. Which is why it’s now such a large undertaking.
I’ll admit it, when I first set up my photography website I didn’t go all out when putting together the portfolio pages. Which is part of why I’m now in the conundrum I’m in. Do I keep them as is? Or is it time for a major revamp? I’m seriously looking for thoughts here.
When you browse through my portfolio in the future, how would you like to see things arranged? Do I keep things as they are (weddings, people, animals, and things)? Would you like to see things sorted by the type of shoot each image represents (couples, individuals, families, animals, weddings, events, and other)? Or is there some other way you’d prefer to browse? How would it be easiest for you?
Please take a minute to let me know your thoughts – even in just a couple of words. My online portfolio is there for YOU, so I want to ensure it’s set up in such a way that you find it as easy as possible to use. And thanks in advance. I really do appreciate your willingness to share.
Two things to share tonight. 🙂 One is the We Give Books website/program. It’s simply too awesome NOT to share. And the other is a book we stumbled across while there.
We Give Books is an incredible website where you can read new, classic, and popular Penguin Books titles to you children… for free. That’s right. FREE. We only discovered the site this afternoon and have already gone through seven titles that were brand new to us (the girl loves the Ladybug Girl books).
You can sign up for free (there’s that word again) using your FB or Twitter account, or the old fashioned way by filling out a form. Then you choose a campaign to support… which is where We Give Books gets even better – yep. Better than free! Can you imagine? What happens next? Just pick out a book and start reading. When you get to the end, a button will show up that says “give a book”. Click it. Know what that means? It means a book has just been donated to whichever campaign you chose to support.
Check it out!!! Seriously!

Now while you’re there, you have to look up “Goodnight iPad”. It’s way too freakin’ awesome. A parody on the classic bedtime story “Goodnight Moon” for those of us who are plugged in. It really is fabulous, and, no joke, it had my husband and I laughing out loud as we attempted to read it to the kid. 😉
So, there you go! Two fabulous discoveries!
Now get reading!
Can you believe it? Today, thanks to a huge outpouring of support, we actually crashed my TD Photography website. In only about twelve hours we hit FOUR TIMES our monthly bandwidth allowance.
Say it with me now… holy crap.
I am completely blown away.
I have been on the phone with the support over at doteasy.com (my host). I last spoke to them about three hours ago now. I let them know that it was with great urgency that I needed my website and email addresses back up and working. This required a loosening of my purse strings, and a highly coveted sixteen digit number with a four digit expiry. LOL But they promised to have me up and running as quickly as possible.
They moved Tobi-Dawne.com (and all associated with it) to a new server. I have since readded my prefix, and reuploaded all the files associated with both Tobi-Dawne.com and TD Photography (which is located at photography.tobi-dawne.com).
Tobi-Dawne.com is up and running, and as of about two minutes ago so is TD Photography. So YAY! I will be heading off to check my netbook after posting this to see if my email addresses are back up as well. Cross your fingers for me. LOL
I have to say, I’ve never been so grateful for a FB page. At least some of you were able to track me down through that, and I was able to post updates on the status of the website.
Never have I had an account/domain suspended before. LMAO And I’m hoping it never happens again.
Patrick, over at groupon.com (the reason for the sudden surge in traffic) has been just as surprised at the interest as I. He projected about 70 sales, and when the site went down several hours ago, we were already at almost 120. So thank you to each and every one of you who checked out my website, contributed to it’s collapse, and made me grin from ear to ear with the idea that little old me generated that much interest. 😉 And thank you SOOO much for your patience as we struggled to get everything back up and running. THANK YOU!
The title about says it all. LOL
I LOVE photography. The process of capturing life. Small perfect moments that we might have otherwise missed. Gifts. Vital and full. Real, transparent, true. Honest. Beautiful. It makes my soul sing. I truly, truly love capturing life.
What I don’t love, is building a photography website. I don’t like that I need to market myself and my skills. I don’t like discussions of price points, and packages. I don’t like the BUSINESS of photography. LOL But apparently it’s one of those necessary things that you just deal with so that you can have as much of the JOY part as possible.
So today I’m a little burned out. Not on photography. But on the website I’m building to share the business end of photography.
One thing I did do today that I am kinda excited about (and that IS part of the business end of things) was to come up with a really cool photography package. I’ve called it the “Make it Right” package. And it’s all about giving people what they hoped for to begin with, when they ended up with generic, boring, cookie-cutter family portraits from an in-studio photography sitting. Check it out at http://www.facebook.com/tdfoto. And make sure to give me a “like” while you’re there. I’ve already given away one portrait sitting, and plan on making many more draws in the days to come. All you have to do is “like” my page to enter… and there are prizes for local AND long-distance folks. So I do hope you’ll drop by and give me a “like”. 🙂
Night all. Gonna go watch my baby sleep for a while.
Oh hey! I still haven’t told you about all the awesome stuff coming up this summer with the Green Party of Saskatchewan. We’ve got some great things in the works that I hope you’ll all be a part of. It’s going to be a great year, and this summer is going to get it kicked off right. But I guess you’ll have to wait a little longer to find out all the details. 😉 hehehe…
Night all. 😀
Apparently grocery shopping is exhausting. LOL Here’s the wee girlie, who’s found herself a comfy spot in the outdoor section.
In other news… 😀
My new website launched today!
I’m quite excited about this one. It’s taken far more work than any site I’d created previously (when I was fresh out of University I worked as a web designer for a few years). Each page was created completely separately from the page before it. No creating of a template and then just popping in content for this one. As you flip through it, it reads like a scrapbook. All done in pinks and greens – my favourite colours. Please do take a look, and let me know what you think. Visually, it’s very different than anything I’ve done before. Hope you all like it as much as I do.
pssst… pass it on!
